Privacy notice
Private by default.
A concise explanation of how we handle the information you share with Cape Town Crypto.
What we collect
Registration requires a name or alias, your connection to Cape Town, an email address, and either a phone number or Telegram account to help reduce spam. You may also share your role, interests, company name or general description, LinkedIn bio or profile link, a message, and communication preferences. The optional Public Directory section separately collects a name or title, company and website, together with your permission to use those details for a future public listing. If you connect with our Telegram bot, we also store your Telegram chat ID and any requests you send there. We never ask for wallet addresses, seed phrases, identity documents or financial balances.
Why we use it
To review your request, contact you through your preferred method, and facilitate introductions when possible. If you opted in, we may occasionally tell you about relevant community gatherings and independently organised side events.
Who can see it
All private information is treated as confidential and is accessible only to the small team that runs Cape Town Crypto. Your private email, phone number, Telegram account, company details, LinkedIn bio and requests are not published. There is currently no public member directory. Only the separate Public Directory details may be used for a future public listing, and only with your explicit consent. We share private details with a third party only when you ask us to make a specific introduction, and only what is needed for it.
How it's protected
Submissions, including proposed directory details, are stored in a secured database that the public cannot read. Treating your information as confidential does not mean any system can guarantee perfect security or absolute anonymity. Please share only what you're comfortable with.
Your choices
You can ask us to update or delete your details at any time, or withdraw from event news, by replying through the channel we contact you on or via Telegram. Using a pseudonym is always fine.
Changes
We may update this notice as the network grows. The current version will always be on this page.
